COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – For a while it seemed like weather conditions were in place to possibly make today the coldest ever January 14th in Coldwater. The predicted low temperature was 7-below zero but by three a.m., it was already ten below zero and typically, the most frigid time of the morning around here is between 8 and 9 a.m. However, by 3:15 am this morning, the thermometer at the Branch County Memorial Airport, the official National Weather Service temperature location, showed 8-below zero and the readings continued to inch up toward zero the rest of the morning, actually reaching 2 above by 7 o’clock. The record low for Coldwater on January 14th is 5-below, a mark set in 1929.
And let’s warm up a bit while we’re at it. The record high for January 14th in Coldwater is 58 degrees set back in 1950.
