COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In Branch County high school sports, last night in wrestling, Coldwater had an Interstate Eight match at Jackson Lumen Christi and they lost 39-34 to the host Titans. Earning pins for the Cardinals were Shuaib Aljabaly, Jesse Miller, and Nooh Aljabaly. Also posting victories for Coldwater were Josh Powers and Randall Linton.
Bronson went 2-0 in a quad at home with the Vikings beating Eau Claire 66-18 and Cassopolis 54-22. Tyler Roussey and Cole Houtz each had two pins on the night. Also with pins against Eau Claire were Jacob Butters, Wesley Disbro, Mykal Kline and Nathan Caudill while Brett Burtrum had a pin against Cassopolis.
Wednesday in bowling, Coldwater’s boys and girls varsity squads won their matches on the road over Pennfield at the M-66 Bowl. High scores for the boys were rolled by Shawn Johnson with a 232 and Buddy Bailey with a 224. Leading the girls were Patricia Neely with a 224 and Sadie Youse with a 213. The boys JV squad defeated Pennfield while the girls JV team lost to Marshall. The boys varsity improved their record to 5-0 while the girls are 4-1.
Tonight in high school sports, in varsity boys basketball, it’s Bronson at Cassopolis, while in girls hoops, Union City hosts Springport and Tekonsha is at home against Camden Frontier. In reserve boys and girls basketball action tonight, the schedule includes Coldwater vs. Marshall with the boys games in Coldwater beginning with the freshman tipping off at 5:30 pm followed by the junior varsity at around seven o’clock. And this afternoon in bowling, it’s Coldwater at home taking on Parma Western at Midway Lanes.

In middle school sports yesterday, in girls basketball, Coldwater split their 4 games against Marshall with a pair of wins on the road for Coldwater’s 8th grade teams. In the 35-33 victory for the “A” team, Malorie Rzepka had 14 points and 8 steals. The “B” team beat Marshall 27-26 with 9 points and 10 rebounds for Anna Tappenden. The Coldwater seventh grade “A” team lost at home to Marshall 44-40 with 19 points for Carlee Crabtree and 16 for Olivia Foley. Coldwater dropped the “B” game 17-12 with 4 points for Merna Yaldo.
Union City’s 8th grade team was a winner on the road over Springport 26-18 with 8 points for Danielle Cross and 12 rebounds for Lillian Bambacht
