GLENDALE, AZ (WTVB) – Super Bowl 49 between the Seahawks and Patriots in Glendale, Arizona is rapidly approaching. Sunday night’s kickoff will come as the league lets everyone know that the number of concussions is on the way down.
The NFL has released data showing 111 concussions were reported during the 2014 regular season. That’s a 25-percent drop from the 148 concussions in 2013 and a 36-percent decline from the year before when there were 173.
League officials attribute the improvement to greater awareness of potential symptoms and rule changes focused on preventing hits to the neck and head.
