COLDWATER (WTVB) – After a quiet start to the year weather-wise for Coldwater and Branch County, Old Man Winter is gearing up to make some noise to end the month of January. Snow has not been the story so far in 2015, rather it’s been the kind of brutal frigid temperatures that marked the extreme conditions of last year with below zero readings and double digit wind chills.
However, just about every computer forecast model that’s calculated the storm system approaching the southern Great Lakes and Ohio Valley is calling for heavy snow, especially tomorrow along with increasing winds. Branch County is under a Winter Storm Warning with 6-12 inches or more of the white stuff maybe on the way. And the windy conditions will create blowing and drifting snow Sunday afternoon and evening making travel difficult with some unplowed roads possibly becoming impassable.
Under these circumstances, if you have to travel, make sure you keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. And stay with us on AM 1590 and FM 95.5 WTVB as well as on-line at wtvbam.com for the very latest details on weather updates and cancellations that may develop as this winter storm impacts the Branch County area.
