KALAMAZOO, MI (WTVB) – On college football’s National Letter of Intent signing day Wednesday, it was officially announced a Coldwater High School senior is getting his shot at Western Michigan University. Along with its 25 Letter of Intent signees, Western Michigan head coach P.J.Fleck announced four preferred walk-ons, including Coldwater kicker Blaze Watson.
According to the Battle Creek Enquirer, “We wanted to have a walk on kicker and we got one. We got the No. 1 guy on our board in terms of what we wanted to be able have happen,” Fleck said. “(Special Teams) Coach (Rob) Wenger did a tremendous job of recruiting this young man. (Watson) can really kick and can really kickoff. We’ve got to continue to build depth at the kicking position and make sure we hit them all and get the ball out of the endzone on kickoffs… And this kid is a four-sport athlete.”
