WASHINGTON (WTVB) – Both sides of the aisle are coming together with the introduction of legislation to stop Asian carp and other invasive species from entering the Great Lakes. Republican Congresswoman Candice Miller and Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow made a joint statement yesterday to talk about the bipartisan Defending Our Great Lakes Act aimed at preventing the spread of Asian carp. Miller says there’s no time to wait on this issue. Stabenow says they’re trying to prod the Army Corps of Engineers to act, adding that this bill is the best chance of halting these fish as they come through the Chicago waterway.
