Walberg votes in favor of extending Homeland Security funding for seven days

WASHINGTON (WTVB) – Homeland Security is funded today, but only for a week. A Republican stopgap funding bill backed by John Boehner came up short, handing the speaker an embarrassing loss. After that measure failed, Michigan Congressmen Tim Walberg, Bill Huizenga and Fred Upton voted last night to keep Homeland Security funded for seven more days. Justin Amash was the only GOP lawmaker from the state who voted to let the funding end in a spat with the White House over the President’s Executive orders on Immigration. It impacts TSA workers, the Coast Guard, and Border Patrol officers who would be expected to report to work whether or not they were being paid.
