COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Some of Branch County’s best and brightest young people down on the farm are out to prove that there’s a lot more to 4-H than agriculture and they made their point this week to County Commissioners. Michigan State University Extension 4-H Educator Connie Lange escorted a group of local 4-H members to Tuesday’s Branch County Board of Commissioners meeting to allow them to present a brief up close profile on their activities as each one is preparing to attend this year’s 4-H Capitol Experience in Lansing where the focus is on civic engagement and public policy.
In addition, Erin Washburn is headed to Washington, D.C. for the National 4-H Conference and is one of just the 11 chosen to serve on Michigan’s new State Youth Leadership Council. She hopes to spread the word everywhere that what they do is about more than animals, farming, baking, and sewing, and in her words, a lot more than it seems.
Those headed to the State Capital on March 22, 2015 are Keiayr Modert, Allyson Faulkner, Zoe Aseltine and Kyle Russell.
