COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In Branch County high school sports, the winter sports season has ended for county teams after none were able to survive the opening week of play in the boys basketball state tournament. The spring schedule starts up this week with a few indoor events on Friday for Coldwater with the Varsity girls tennis team at Jenison for the Ramblewood Invitational while in Varsity track it’s the Huron Relays at Eastern Michigan University.
The MHSAA boys basketball state tournament Regional semi-finals are tonight. Edwardsburg, which won last week’s Coldwater Class B District, takes on Benton Harbor at the Comstock Regional where Harper Creek and Otsego are matched up in the other semi-final.
At the Class C Adrian Madison Regional, undefeated Hillsdale, which knocked off Quincy in Friday’s Hillsdale District Final, will face Hanover-Horton, the winner of 14 straight district titles. In the other bracket, neither team has a winning record as Addison takes on Dansville. And in the Mendon Class D Regional, Mendon plays Covert.
March Magic for the girls resumes tomorrow night with the quarterfinals.
