COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It’s been more than a decade in the making and for Branch County government, it means nearly a million dollars for this year. It was 11 years ago that the county last received its full portion of revenue sharing funds from the State of Michigan. However, this year, the total revenue package has been allocated.
Tim McGuire, executive director of the Michigan Association of Counties, or MAC, spoke to Branch County Commissioners this week and said he felt MAC was instrumental in swaying Governor Snyder to bring his backing to the full restoration of revenue sharing. The exact amount for Branch County in 2015 is 967-thousand dollars and McGuire says the same amount is in the proposed budget for 2016.
MAC is holding its spring legislative conference next week in Lansing.
