COLDWATER (WTVB) – Coldwater Community Schools will be the focus of a pair of special meetings coming up on Monday night. First on the docket is a 5 p.m. Board of Education session with trustees and the administration expected to provide details of teacher layoffs reportedly coming in June. The number of pink slips needed to deal with a declining enrollment and an estimated 1.6 million dollar budget deficit hasn’t been revealed. However, at their regular meeting this past Monday, the School Board started the trimming by approving several administration position cutbacks including the elimination of the job of assistant superintendent of schools. Then at 6:30 Monday night at the Jefferson Elementary School, it will be the first of two Town Hall meetings sponsored by the Citizens for Coldwater Community Schools. The group is working to inform the public and answer questions about the two Coldwater school bond issues that will be up for a vote on May 5th. The second Town Hall meeting is scheduled for April 22nd, also at 6:30 p.m. at Max Larsen Elementary.
