COLDWATER,MI (WTVB) – A Michigan State Police trooper and a Coldwater City Police officer were assaulted overnight in the emergency room at the Community Health Center of Branch County by a domestic violence suspect being treated at the hospital. It happened around 2 a.m. The trooper and officer were checked out for their minor injuries.
The man accused in the incident allegedly assaulted his sister late Sunday night at a residence on Lake Drive in Ovid Township, where authorities also responded to another domestic violence complaint on Saturday. He had to be subdued early this morning with a taser.
Besides facing two counts of assaulting a police officer and domestic violence, the suspect is expected to be charged for destroying several medical devices in the E.R. during his tirade with the police.
