COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Spring Break has ended for school kids across Branch County with their first classes today since April 2 and it’s an important week ahead for students. Beginning tomorrow, 11th grade, eighth grade and fifth grade students will be taking state tests.
It’s the first year for the new M-STEP exams which replace the long standing MEAP, Michigan Educational Assessment Program tests. M-STEP, the Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress is an online assessment but has a paper and pencil option. Also changed is the timing for the tests, moved from the fall to the spring.
It’s also an important week from some teachers in the Coldwater School District as evaluations are due Wednesday for non-tenure teachers.
