COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A pair of physicians at the Community Health Center of Branch County who are natives of Nepal have put out the call for area residents to come to the aid of the thousands who need assistance in the wake of the massive earthquake that struck their homeland last month. Dr. Kamal Pradhan and Dr. Sabeena Pradhan are partnering with the CHC Foundation to mobilize efforts here in Branch County to help the people effected by the disaster in Nepal where hundreds of thousands have lost their homes with neighborhoods and entire village being destroyed. More than 7,000 people have lost their lives and over 14,000 have been injured.
As aftershocks begin to slow down, rescue and relief operations are underway. The Pradhan’s say while all of their family is safe, they have had direct contact with two hospitals in Nepal that are in desperate need of supplies to care for the injured. Due to government restrictions, it is difficult to deliver supplies to the facilities and that’s why they’re asking for donations that they believe can make a huge difference. Checks or cash can be mailed to the CHC Foundation in Coldwater or you can also make a donation on-line at www.chcbc.com.
All funds will go to the hospitals to purchase pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, and equipment to help care for the injured.
