WASHINGTON, DC (WTVB) – A fast-track trade bill is headed to the House after passage by the Senate and Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters of Michigan aren’t happy about it. The vote was 62-37. President Obama wants fast-track authority to help him complete a massive Asia-Pacific trade bill. Many Democrats, including Senators Stabenow and Peters, strongly oppose free trade deals, saying they have proven to be bad for American workers. The President argues that free trade gets more American products overseas and helps U.S. workers. Many Republicans have formed an unusual alliance with the Democratic President on the trade agenda.
