LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Seat belt enforcement is spotlighted as a “Click it or Ticket” campaign is underway across Michigan. Extra patrols of state troopers, county deputies and local officers will be looking for unbuckled motorists through May 31st, hoping to cut down on 188 traffic fatalities statewide last year for those who weren’t wearing their safety belts. There were 20 overall deaths from crashes during last year’s Memorial Day holiday in Michigan. Federal funds are paying for the additional surveillance hours.
