COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The U.S. economy added 280,000 jobs last month, and unemployment ticked up slightly. We won’t know for 3 weeks how many of those jobs Branch County might have landed. The local May job numbers are due to be released June 25th.
The 5.5% jobless rate for May nationally is not changed much from April’s 5.4%. The April rate for Branch County was 4.5%.
Industries with the biggest job gains across the country last month were professional and business services, healthcare, and leisure and hospitality.
