COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater is getting closer to locking in a development agreement with the Clemens Food Group, the Philadelphia based firm that announced late last year its plans to open a $250-million pork production facility in Branch County. The Coldwater City Council last night gave conditional approval to terms for the City to provide infrastructure to the plant site, pending finalization of language changes agreeable to both groups. City Manager Jeff Budd said it essentially protects the city in the unlikely event that Clemens is unable to meet its obligations for financing the plant.
Also last night, the City Council approved a one-time allocation of $25,000 to the Branch District Library to help pay for gutter repairs to the main library which the City owns and leases to the District Library.
