COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It’s strawberries, soccer and the summer solstice in Coldwater along with Father’s Day on the third weekend in June 2015. The annual Strawberryfest and Craft Show in downtown Coldwater is a Saturday 9 am to 4 pm happening with over 125 craft vendors today along with tasty food and treats, activities for the kids and of course, strawberries as well as Strawberry Jam, the musical variety, on 2 stages at the west and east ends of the festival with a half dozen acts performing.
The community started to get a big kick out of the soccer balls last night with the beginning of the 3 day Branch County Region 1289 section 8 Tournament. Coldwater is playing host to hundreds of youth soccer athletes and their families with 54 teams from all over the state of Michigan taking part with 13 local squads in the competition. You can check it out with most of the action at the AYSO Soccer Complex at the corner of State and Marshall with other matches at the Heritage Park fields off Northshore Drive. The semi-finals and finals are tomorrow.
Summer 2015, by the calendar, officially arrives Sunday with the Solstice at 12:39 p.m. tomorrow.
Sunday is also Father’s Day and many dads will be treated like kings, and rightfully so say the experts, who stress that a healthy and loving father-child relationship provides countless benefits for kids of all ages.
