COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Hundreds of youth soccer players and their families were in Coldwater over the weekend as Branch County Region 1289 American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) hosted the annual Section 8 Tournament. Teams came from all over the state of Michigan, although 13 teams from the local region participated.
54 total teams took part in the three day tournament, ranging from U-10 to U-19. U-19 games were played at the city of Coldwater Herritage Park fields off Northshore Drive, while the rest of the games were played at the AYSO Creal Soccer Complex at the corner of State and Marshall. Coldwater last hosted the tournament three years ago.
Branch County teams took first place in both the U-19 and U-14 girls divisions. The winning teams in each age group:
