BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – On the local sports scene, last night in Mickey Mantle Summer League baseball, the Coldwater Redbirds swept a doubleheader at Battle Creek over the BC Bearcats 11-1 and 3-1. In the opener, it was a five inning mercy rule victory with Mitchell Duda the winning pitcher, going the distance with a 2 hitter and eleven strikeouts. On offense, Bryce Barringer had 2 triples and five RBI’s, Sean Printke added a triple and a single and 3 RBI’s and Caleb Letendre had a double and a single with 3 runs scored.
In the nightcap, Cameron Barnes picked up the win on a 2-hitter over 5 innings with 7 strikeouts while Bryce Barringer pitched a scoreless sixth to earn the save. Letendre had an RBI single and Lucas Santure had two singles with a run scored.
The Redbirds improved their record to 14-3 and Thursday will play at Tekonsha.
