COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It took very little time with limited discussion yesterday for Branch County Commissioners to give preliminary approval to a staffing request made this week by Branch County Prosecutor Ralph Kimble. The Prosecutor requested that Commissioners give the go ahead to add a contract employee position of administrative assistant for his office for a term of up to 3 months, for 40 hours a week at the rate of $12 an hour.
A current assistant has had to take personal leave time, adding to a situation in which Kimball already has an office that he says is seriously understaffed while their caseload has nearly tripled over the last 2-and-a-half years. Thursday’s action at the commission’s work session is expected to receive final approval at the Board of Commissioner’s regular meeting next Tuesday.
