COLDWATEWR, MI (WTVB) – Tuesday night in Mickey Mantle summer league baseball, the Coldwater Redbirds split a doubleheader at home against the Kalamazoo Maroons. The Redbirds dropped the opener 6-5. Cameron Barnes, who pitched the fifth and sixth innings, suffered the loss. Sean Printke had two singles and an RBI.
The nightcap went extra innings with the Redbirds scoring a run in the seventh to beat the Maroons 4-3. Alex Everett was the winning pitcher, tossing the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings with one run allowed on four hits. Mitchell Duda closed it out with a scoreless seventh to earn the save. Austin Butler had a double and a single with an RBI and scored 3 runs.
The Redbirds finished the regular season with a 28-7 record. Coldwater this weekend for the 46th year will host the annual AABC Mickey Mantle North Central Regional with ten teams in the round-robin tournament Friday through Sunday with the action at Lowe Field and Borden Field Friday and Saturday and then the championship round on Sunday at Lowe Field.
