COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Michigan South Central Power Agency’s annual meeting was held last night in Coldwater where MSCPA members heard details of the strategic planning that led to last month’s decision to close the Endicott Generation Station in Litchfield in June of 2016. Glen White, General Manager of the agency, addressed the gathering and said key factors that drove the decision include ongoing competition with larger power producers, potential for tighter environmental regulation along with retiring workforce challenges and difficulty staffing key operational issues.
White was still positive in pointing to the future and the potential development of new services that will be presented to the agency members for their consideration later this year. According to White, it’s a fairly stable outlook although with the announcements of new customers that are coming to their member service territories, they expect an increase of 6-8% for both demand and energy starting late 2017 and early 2018.
MSCPA members include Coldwater, Union City, Marshall, Hillsdale and Clinton.
