COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – An early morning fire Thursday in Coldwater resulted in minor smoke inhalation for the person living in a home on Belle Avenue. The alarm came in around 3:30 a.m. today from the Dawn Hicks residence at 107 Belle Avenue.
Hicks told firemen she was able to douse the flames in the kitchen with a garden hose but there was heavy smoke. It got started after a back burner on the stove had been left on unattended. The fire department had the blaze extinguished in less than ten minutes. There was damage to the cabinets above the stove and to some ceiling tiles.
