ORLAND, IN (WTVB) – Horseplay for a handful of juveniles with alleged drinking and driving east of Orland Sunday ended with serious injuries for a young boy and girl. Steuben County Indiana Sheriff’s deputies say it’s believed the two youth went up and out of the sunroof of their vehicle and fell off onto the roadway on State Road 120 East.
911 got a call shortly before 7 am yesterday regarding two persons jumping from a moving vehicle. Upon arrival, County EMS and Orland Fire/Rescue began patient care and then a Parkview Hospital Helicopter flew the juveniles out with serious internal injuries.
An investigation by Indiana State Police led to the arrest of a juvenile male for operating while intoxicated with serious bodily injury of the juvenile driver. According to a news release, it isn’t clear at this point what was the intent of the victims. Two other juveniles in the vehicle were not charged with any crimes.
