QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The 30th anniversary Corn Roast, the rowdy party on the sand bar at Quincy’s Marble Lake, kept the Branch County Marine Patrol very busy yesterday as expected, but no major incidents were reported. The 9-1-1 Central Dispatch log of events from Sunday had more than 2 dozen entries filed from either Corn Island or Marble Lake.
One of the complaints on the log timed at 4:48 p.m. said there was a fight. None of the listings otherwise were noteworthy. A corrections officer at the Branch County Jail said there were no felony arrests associated with the Corn Roast while there was no word from the Sheriff’s Department or Marine Patrol on any possible misdemeanor charges brought in connection with the event.
Organizers in recent years have attempted to somewhat rebrand the Corn Roast with a more organized and controlled atmosphere while also adding a Saturday kids family day at Corn Island separate from Sunday’s Adult party.
