COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In Branch County high school sports, tryouts and practice for six fall season programs begin today, joining football, which started on Monday. The first workouts allowed by the MHSAA for today include boys soccer, volleyball, girls golf, Boys tennis, cross country, and girls swimming and diving. The first contest dates across Michigan are a week from today and for Branch County schools that means Coldwater girls golf next Wednesday.
Coldwater High School soccer fans this week will get their first look at this year’s varsity Boys team, as well new uniforms for the team, at their annual Alumni Scrimmage on Saturday night. All former Coldwater High soccer players are invited to play this year’s varsity squad in a friendly match at 7 p.m. at Coldwater High School. The new uniforms for both the varsity and JV team were purchased with assistance from the Coldwater Athletic Boosters Club. They feature a new Coldwater Soccer crest. Improvements to the press box observation deck, goals, dugouts, and field have also been done this summer. Sew Tech of Coldwater assisted with the dugout repairs.
There is no admission fee for the Alumni Scrimmage, but donations will be accepted. Retired warm-up jackets and pants will also be sold for $10 each.
