COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The planning committee for the 18th annual CHC Community Fest is working hard to make sure the community has an exciting event with lots of health information available. Community Fest will be held at the CHC Community Care and Conference Center, 370 E. Chicago St., Coldwater, MI, 49036 (located behind Pizza Hut) on September 12, 2015, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Community Fest is a free health and safety fair brought to you by the Community Health Center of Branch County (CHC). Community Fest and the Happy Heart Run are possible through the support of Happy Heart Run sponsors and the CHC Foundation
The CHC Happy Heart Run will start off the festivities for the day. The run will start behind CHC on Washington Street. Participants can choose to run the 1 mile or 5K course. Pre-registration is $10 for a student, $25 for a single, and $40 for a family registration. Same day registration is $5 more. Registration begins at 7 a.m. with the 1 mile run starting at 7:40 a.m. and the 5K at 8 a.m.
Community Fest will include free health and safety information, hands on activities, free health screenings, demonstrations, and giveaways. The screenings listed below require pre-registration. Please note some of the screening times do not follow the Community Fest schedule.

2. Vascular Screening: 7:30 -11:30 a.m.
Other screenings being offered to the public during Community Fest do not require pre-registration. They are available on a first come, first served basis from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Community Fest will once again include the “smokehouse”, a fire safety trailer, which will teach kids how to safely get out of the house during a fire. A bike course will also be held and kids can bring their bikes for free bike checks. Free bike helmets provided by Borgess Trauma Services will be offered while supplies last. The Coldwater Fire Department will attend with a fire truck, along with LifeCare ambulance and the AirCare Helicopter (if weather and emergencies allow). The Branch County dive van will be on site and the Michigan State Police officers will be there with their drug dog. Kids can play in a blow-up obstacle course; other activities will include face painting and Woody the clown. A free healthy continental breakfast will be provided for those who visit 20 exhibits or more. Participants will pick up a card at registration to be stamped by exhibitors. Once the card is filled with 20 stamps, the participant can then get their free healthy breakfast. Thank you to community supporters, McDonald’s and Aldi’s.
