COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The aging tennis courts at Heritage Park are on the agenda tonight when the Coldwater City Council meets in regular session. The council will discuss their options for the eight courts that opened in 1976. They were a gift to the city and constructed at a cost of $60,000, plus $20,000 for the lights.
The courts have been repaired four times over the years, most recently in 2009. It’s estimated that the existing courts have a life expectancy of two more years, as cracks to the asphalt surface continue to form. The price range to repair or reconstruct the courts goes from as low as $100,000 to as high $575,000. Funding for the project could come from a variety of municipal, school, and community sources.
The council is also expected to act on a proposal to change the operation of the traffic light at the corner of State and Marshall Streets to a four-way flashing red pattern at night.
