WHITING, IN (WTVB) – BP has now confirmed what had only been rumored over the weekend, that their refinery in Whiting, Indiana is operating at full capacity again and that’s good news for drivers in Branch County and across the region. The refinery re-start combined with crude oil prices selling for under $40 a barrel, the prospect of Iranian crude hitting the global market, a slowdown of China’s economy, cheaper winter blends and less driving in the U.S. all means pump prices in the U.S. should plummet this fall.
Patrick Dehaan at GasBuddy.com says it’s hard to think of a more favorable scenario for drivers. He says prices will drop 20 to 50-cents a gallon before Labor Day.
