COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – There’s a small stretch of road in Branch County’s Ovid Township that definitely requires a slow down as you approach Coldwater Lake and yesterday afternoon, a driver found that out the hard way. Sheriff’s Deputies say a Jeep SUV ended up smashing into a house, causing quite a bit of damage to an attached garage. Thankfully, nobody was hurt.
According to deputies, 21-year old Jacob Ward of Coldwater was westbound on Warren Road at a rate of speed that caused him to lose control at the curve west of Lake Drive, with the vehicle striking the residence, owned by the Barrett family. No one was inside the home at the time, around 1:50 p.m. yesterday. A news release said no alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident.
Ward was cited for careless driving.
