COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A traffic stop in Coldwater early today by Michigan State Police led to the arrest of a man from Northern Michigan on a charge of sexually assaulting a teenage boy from Coldwater. A news release from Coldwater City Police said a trooper pulled over a van driven by a 52-year old West Branch man. The vehicle was also occupied by a 14-year old Coldwater male.
Coldwater City Police officers responded to the scene of the stop on U.S. 12 at Butters Avenue after the State Police learned that a criminal sexual conduct incident had taken place at a local cemetery.
The suspect was lodged at the Branch County jail for first degree criminal sexual conduct. The van was pulled over at about 2:35 a.m. today.
