MARSHALL., MI (WTVB) – A major crimes task force investigating suspicious incidents with cars being damaged by projectiles along I-94 and I-69 in Branch County and Calhoun County is looking into yet another such case where a vehicle window was shattered, the latest one on I-94 Tuesday afternoon.
Concerns remain that possibly there is a sniper out on the highway taking potshots at passing traffic. The evidence remains inconclusive. In the latest incident, police are trying to determine if it was a rock that was kicked up by another vehicle or a bullet. They searched the area where a gunman would have had to be to take the shot and found no evidence.
Police have also been stymied by the fact that some of the early evidence of projectiles hitting cars were repaired before they could be examined, and investigators only have pictures of the damage.
