COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Many older adults experience concerns about falling and so they restrict their activities. But research has shown us that staying active and involved in our communities is a healthier way to live. So how do you stay active but avoid the risks of falling? That’s exactly what seniors will learn at an upcoming series of classes in Coldwater at the Burnside Center. A Matter of Balance is an award winning program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels.
The eight session workshop is designed to help seniors learn ways to reduce falls and the fear of falling. They’ll learn exercises to help improve balance and evaluate their environments to identify potential trip hazards.
A Matter of Balance classes will be held on Tuesday and Friday mornings starting at 9:30 a.m. from September 15 through October 9. Each session is two hours long. $5.00 is due at the first class. Those who complete all eight sessions will have their money refunded. Space is limited for this class. Call the Burnside Center to register at 279-6565.
Funding for A Matter of Balance is provided by a grant through the Area Agency on Aging 3C and the Branch County Commission on Aging.
