COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In case you hadn’t noticed, there have been some speed limit changes made on US-12 in Coldwater by the Michigan Department of Transportation. Following a study by MDOT, the decision was made to increase the speed limit on US-12 on the west side of Coldwater from 50 to 55 mph for a short stretch of the highway from River Road east to Cemetery Road, where it’s been reduced to 45 mph. It used to be 50 mph through that stretch up to midway between Old US-112 and Northshore Drive.
No changes were recommended for US-12 through the center of Coldwater. On the east side of town, drivers will have to slow down a bit as the 35 mph limit has been extended from Michigan Avenue to Willowbrook Road. It then increases to 45 mph at Willowbrook and bumps up to 55 mph past the Meijer Store.
The new speed limit signs went up earlier this month and Coldwater City Manager Jeff Budd will be reviewing the situation at Monday night’s meeting coming up for the Coldwater City Council.
