COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In boys high school soccersoccer, Coldwater played to a 0-0 tie at Marshall in the Interstate Eight Conference opener for both teams. Balal Nasser had two saves in goal as the Cardinals outshot Marshall 11-2. Coldwater is now 6-3-1 on the season and they continue conference play tomorrow night at Pennfield.
In the JV match at Marshall, Coldwater beat the Redhawks 3-2. Dominick Kelly, Mohsen Saleh and Harwan Alaatre shared the scoring for the Cardinals with a goal each. Alex Schaale had one save in goal for Coldwater as they outshot Marshall 20-3 to improve their record to 7-0.
Last night in volleyball, Quincy won their Big 8 Conference opener with a 3-0 victory at Springport. Quincy’s overall record is now 11-4-1. In another Big 8 opener, Union City lost 3-1 at home to Concord. Haley McIntosh had 11 kills and 12 digs while Cassie Thorpe had 14 assists. Union City’s record on the season slipped to 9-8-2.
In boys tennis from Monday, Coldwater scored a 6-2 non-conference win at Portage Northern while yesterday, Bronson fell 8-0 at home to Kalamazoo Christian.
Today in high school sports, in volleyball, it’s Coldwater at Marshall while Bronson hosts New Buffalo. Bronson this week is ranked number-2 in the state in Class-C. In boys tennis, Coldwater hosts Jackson Lumen Christi while it’s Bronson at Niles Brandywine. In Girls golf, Coldwater competes at Marshall in the third Interstate 8 Jamboree of the season. And in cross country, Quincy runs at the Leslie Invitational.

In middle school sports, Coldwater last night opened its volleyball season at home against Marshall with a split in the 8th grade matches while the host Lady Cardinals won the seventh grade A match. In the eighth grade action, Coldwater took the A match 2-1. Olivia Foley had 8 points with 6 aces while Taylor Wilber had 6 points with 3 aces and 3 assists. Coldwater dropped the B match 2-1. Linzy Monks led the way in serves with 5 and she also had 2 assists. Melissa Vozar had 2 digs. The seventh grade A team beat Marshall in 3 games.
