COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A new youth pastor is at work in Branch County. The Coldwater Free Methodist Church on North Fremont Street has announced the recent hiring of Stephen Flavin as youth pastor. His responsibilities include overseeing the church’s ministries to junior and senior high youth. Flavin began his responsibilities at the church on September 8th. He studied youth ministry in Michigan at Spring Arbor University and served previously as associate pastor and youth director at Greenwood Free Methodist Church in Jackson, Michigan. He has also worked with the Jackson Interfaith Shelter as assistant to the executive director.
A native of Ireland, Flavin came to the United States at the age of 23 and is married to Kate, who grew up in Spring Arbor. Other interests include leading organizations involved in addressing the problem of slavery in the world today and he is the co-founder and head coach of the Jackson Fenians Rugby Club.
