COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – There was some opposition expressed last night but the Coldwater City Planning Commission approved the conditional site plan for the proposed Harbor Cove RV park on a vote of 7-0. It’s the city’s final action needed for the 30 acre park located off Race Street on the city’s west side that would have 200 campsites on the property along South Lake.
There was more than an hour of discussion on the project at last night’s public hearing on the plan. Primary concerns centered around the impact to four residences in Coldwater Township on Garfield Road that back up to the park, additional traffic created on Race Street, potential environmental issues and additional boat docks and lake traffic. The majority of the campsites will be rented on a seasonal basis similar to that at the Waffle Farm Campground next to Craig Lake north of Coldwater.
