COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Three teenage girls were injured early Thursday in Branch County in a car-deer rollover accident on I-69 south of Coldwater. Michigan State Police say the deer wasn’t hit as the driver lost control of her vehicle while swerving to avoid a collision and rolled the car while headed northbound on the interstate near the 11-mile marker in Coldwater Township.
An 18-year passenger in the back seat was the most seriously injured with a sore shoulder and a bloody nose. She was taken to the Community Health Center of Branch County by ambulance for treatment and the other two girls went along for the ride to be checked out at the hospital, both with minor injuries. The car was totaled in the crash. Troopers say the 3 girls are all out of state residents from northwest Indiana.
The accident was reported to 9-1-1 Central Dispatch at 12:55 a.m. Thursday. The Coldwater Fire Department also responded to the scene along with Life Care Ambulance.
