FREMONT, IN (WTVB) – A 20-year old from Fremont, Indiana was killed over the weekend in a pickup truck semi-tractor collision in Steuben County. Deputies say Jessy Whittaker was driving his 1998 Chevy S-10 east on US Highway 20 when for unknown reasons he drifted left of center and struck the semi.
Whittaker was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash that happened about 10:40 p.m Saturday. The 21-year old semi driver from Angola wasn’t injured. The Sheriff’s Department said alcohol is not believed to be a factor and the accident remains under investigation.
US 20 was shut down for around 3 hours following the collision.
