COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Fire officials say an alert neighbor helped prevent any injuries in a Tuesday morning house fire. The blaze at the Steve Smith residence at 75 Waterman Avenue was reported around 7:45 a.m. and everyone was outside the 2-story structure when firefighters arrived thanks to the neighbor who spotted the heavy smoke showing from the attic area. That’s where the fire originated and it was contained to the attic and quickly brought under control.
The second story hallway ceiling was pulled to gain access to the blaze. The attic was ventilated from the exterior as well. The fire was caused by faulty wiring in the attic.
The Coldwater Fire Department was on scene for over an hour and a half.
