COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In high school volleyball Wednesday, Coldwater lost 3-0 at Class B 4th ranked Harper Creek. The host Beavers beat the Cardinals in the Interstate Eight Conference match 25-17, 25-15, 25-10. Jasmine Wellet had a team-high 9 digs for Coldwater, Drue Mullin had 5 kills, and Jamie Wellet had 8 assists. The Cardinals slip to 3-3 in the conference with their overall record at 15-16-5.
There was a split in the reserve matches. Harper Creek’s junior varsity defeated Coldwater 2-0. Malorie Rzepka had 9 digs, Kaci White had 4 kills and Avery Milnes had 4 assists. The freshman Cardinals beat the Beavers 2-1. Jordan Clemens had 7 aces and 3 blocks. Anna Tappenden had 6 kills and Mallory Kissinger had 3 digs.
Also in volleyball, Class-C top ranked Bronson picked up 2 wins in a BCS Crossover Quad at Mendon. The Lady Vikings took both matches 3-0 in the victories over Comstock and Berrien Springs. Allison Sikorski and Jill Pyles had 12 kills apiece, Kiera Lasky had 23 digs and 13 aces and Alexa Ratkowski had 58 assists. Bronson improved its record to 45-9-2.
Tonight in high school sports, in football, it’s an early start to the final weekend of the regular season for Quincy and Union City who are playing their annual Big 8-Cascades Conference Crossover games on the road with Quincy at Addison and Union City at Grass Lake.
Last night in a JV Crossover contest at Quincy, the Orioles beat Michigan Center 44-12 with 3 touchdowns apiece on the ground for Luke Rufenacht and Brandon Harrison. Rufenacht piled up 221 yards rushing.
Tonight in reserve football, Coldwater hosts Adrian in junior varsity only action at 6 p.m. Adrian doesn’t have a freshman team. Also this evening in girls swimming and diving, it’s Senior Night for Coldwater with a home meet vs. Charlotte at the Brown Aquatic Center.
