COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinal football team found out Sunday night, during the viewing of the MHSAA Selection Sunday Show, that they will will host Interstate 8 foe Parma Western in an MHSAA Division 3 Pre-District game. The 9-0 Cardinals, who closed out the regular season this past Friday with a 35-14 win at Adrian, will be making their third consecutive appearance in the MHSAA Playoffs and third overall, on the heels of its first league championship since 1986 and its first undefeated regular season since 1930. Western will be making its first-ever playoff appearance, which the Panthers clinched Friday night with a 28-0 shutout win against Dexter to finish the regular season at 6-3. The two teams already played each other this season, with Coldwater shutting out visiting Western 34-0 on September 18.
Kickoff for the game has been set for Friday night at 7 p.m. at Cardinal Field, with the gates opening at 5:45 p.m. Tickets for the game will be $5 apiece, with no school or league passes being accepted. Advance ticket sales will take place Thursday from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-7 p.m., and again Friday from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-3:30 p.m.
