COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Property taxes for Coldwater city residents are expected to increase three tenths of a percent in 2016. That’s the word from Coldwater City manager Jeff Budd in his report to the City Council, which meets tonight in regular session. The .3% hike is based on the recently announced Inflation Rate Multiplier from the Michigan Department of Treasury.
According to Budd, this is the second lowest increase since the start of Proposal A in 1995. Budd calls it good news for Coldwater property owners but adds that it does limit resources to provide services to residents.
Budd’s report to the council also includes a reminder that Coldwater’s Trick-or-Treat will be on Halloween Saturday, October 31st from 5:00-6:30pm. Typically, this would be from 5:30-7:00 p.m., but it is being moved up to accommodate the Halloween Parade. This year the Parade will start at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night, with this year’s theme “Things that Glow in the Night”.
