QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – There was smoke and water damage last night in a chimney fire at an Amish farm house in Branch County’s Quincy Township. Everyone who lives in the 2-story wood and brick frame home at 615 Quincy-Grange Road was outside the residence when Quincy firefighters reached the scene after the alarm came in at shortly after 7 p.m.
Quincy Fire Chief Kurt Barve said the stubborn blaze spread in the basement near the chimney cleanout. The Coldwater Fire Department provided mutual aid with a tanker truck. The fire was declared out at 8:35 p.m. and Quincy firemen were on the job for more than two hours.
