BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Michigan State Police say a Branch County woman is facing charges for allegedly conspiring with a state prison inmate to engage in child abusive activity. 48-year old Linda Allen Ehle of Batavia Township also was named on a conspiracy to commit a crime by computer warrant. She was arrested Wednesday night by troopers at her Nash Road residence. Federal charges have been filed in the case against the inmate at the Ionia Correctional Facility.
Authorities said letters exchanged between Ehle and the prisoner, former Branch County resident, 41-year old Shane Scott, were intercepted. Investigators said the correspondence indicated that Scott and Ehle had conspired to sexually assault a mentally and physically disabled female. A resulting federal search warrant served at Ehle’s home for her computer produced evidence detectives said revealed Ehle had solicited online trying to discover other possible partners to join her in locating potential victims.
The crimes allegedly occurred last spring and summer.
Ehle was arraigned yesterday in Branch County District Court. Her bond was set at $150,000 with her next court date scheduled for a probable cause hearing on November 12, 2015 and a preliminary exam on November 17.
