UPDATE: Al Roker’s plan was due to arrive in Goshen, Indiana at 2:34 p.m.
COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – An update from WOTV, Grand Rapids on Al Roker’s “Rokerthon 2” visit to Coldwater: Roker was originally scheduled to be at the Tibbits Opera House between 1 and 1:30 p.m., but a producer with “Today” now expects him to arrive around 2:15 p.m Tuesday. Roker will be in Michigan with his attempt to break a world record by broadcasting reports from all 50 states in a week, as a fundraiser for Feeding America..
The Coldwater Area Chamber of Commerce says because they expect a large crowd, people are invited to line the steps of the Opera House but are asked not to park in the Tibbits Plaza across the street and should not try to access Hanchett Street by vehicle since a portion of the street will be closed for Roker’s broadcast. The Chamber says parking within walking distance is available at many other locations downtown.
This is Day 5 of Roker’s attempted record breaker and will take him through seven states beginning this morning in Missouri with a stop in Goshen, Indiana scheduled right ahead of his trip to Coldwater this afternoon to be followed by a visit to Montpelier, Ohio. If all goes as planned, it will culminate Friday in New York City.
“Rokerthon One” last year featured 34 hours of what was billed as a world record for the longest uninterrupted live weathercast.
