GIRARD TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – There was a serious accident this morning in Branch County, a fatal crash, involving a semi-tractor trailer on I-69 in Girard Township. It was reported at 4 a.m. near the 17-mile marker. I-69 Northbound had to be closed at Jonesville Road for several hours with traffic detoured to re-enter the highway at Old 27. The truck left the interstate and entered the median and it took some time to tow it away from the scene. Also, the passing lane of southbound I-69 in the area was closed as well.
Michigan State Police are investigating and tell us the victim was from Indiana, a man in his 60’s.
