COLDWATER,MI (WTVB) – Branch County Sheriff John Pollack will be seeking a second 4-year term in office next November. Pollack announced his re-election bid at last night’s meeting of the Branch County Township Supervisor’s Association.
The word from the Sheriff was expected since he hinted about his upcoming candidacy this fall including a mention of it earlier this month on his Facebook page. Pollack last night told the Supervisors meeting that there’s still a lot to be done at the Sheriff’s Department, noting that they’ve gone 3 years without any nighttime road patrols and one of his goals is to have the patrols re-instated. They were eliminated not long after Pollack took office in January 2013 when the Branch County Board of Commissioners approved major funding cuts to the Sheriff’s Department and deputy layoffs followed.
Pollack said that at some point he would like to return to 24-hour coverage. Pollack is a long time law enforcement officer with his many years at the Sheriff’s Department including serving as a road patrol deputy and sergeant and Undersheriff.
